TAM Linhas Aéreas was one of Brazil's leading airlines, originating in 1961 in the city of Marília (São Paulo) when it was founded as TAM Táxi Aéreo Marília by businessman Rolim Adolfo Amaro. In 1976, it began operating scheduled flights as TAM Transportes Aéreos Regionais, gradually expanding its routes across Brazil. Over the years, the company grew, modernized its fleet with larger aircraft, and launched international flights, becoming the country's largest airline and one of the largest in Latin America renowned for its slogan "Orgulho de voar" (Pride in flying) and the quality of its services. In 2012, TAM merged with the Chilean carrier LAN Airlines to form the LATAM Airlines Group, and in 2016, the TAM brand was officially replaced by LATAM Airlines Brasil, leaving a significant legacy in the history of Brazilian aviation.
